History
Following an MBO in September 2006, Pivotal Performance Ltd is a now a stand alone business following many years of ownership by a variety of Corporate entities. The same team who have led the business for the last two years are continuing with their plans for growth and have moved to larger offices in Kettering taking their loyal workforce with them, whilst retaining their office in Glasgow.
Pivotal was born out of the amalgamation of two separate training organisations:
AMT International and ESS Shorco.
AMT International was the (Astra) Management Training division of Astra Training Services. Since the end of the war, Governments had invested in the Manpower Services Commission (MSC) and their network of 52 Government Skillcentres. These were located as far apart as Dundee in Scotland and Redruth in Cornwall, where ex-Servicemen and Women were re-trained in the skills required to rebuild the country and the economy. In 1990 The Government Skillcentres became the first Civil Service organisation to be privatised Astra Training Services. Following an MBO 4 new Astra divisions were formed. Astra Management Training was responsible for the conceptual skills, rather than the traditional Operator skills available through the newly privatised company.
In July 1993, Astra Training Services was put into administration and AMT International was born following yet another MBO.
In September 2003 AMT International was acquired by the Peterhouse Group and was merged with an existing group company, ESS Shorco. ESS had started about 20 years previously, originally as a vending company and then moving on to offering hire, sales and service of safety equipment, latterly adding artisan Health and Safety Training to its offering. Peterhouse was acquired by Babcock plc in the spring of 2004.
Both ESS and AMT International were rebranded as Pivotal Training under the Pivotal Group Services banner in December 2004 with the health and safety training offerings of both companies being brought together.
In July 2005, VP plc acquired Pivotal Group Services. Pivotal Training rebranded as Pivotal Performance in December of that year to more reflect the vision of the Directors and became an independent company in September 2006.
Pivotal Performance continues to go from strength to strength, offering the highest quality Health, Safety and Environmental training in the market, allied with Trainer Training and Leadership and Personal Effectiveness.
