COSHH Awareness
Overview
To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the basis and application of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH). Note that these regulations include requirements for a wide range of hazardous substances including chemicals, gases and biological agents such as legionella.

Course Content Includes
- Properties of hazardous substances; gases, liquids, solids, organic and inorganic compounds, biological agents.
- Classification of substances including reference to the Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations (CHIP). Symbols and data sheets.
- Health effects due to hazardous substances including dermatitis, sensitisation, occupational asthma and cancers.
- The nature of Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL’s)
- An outline of the requirements of the COSHH Regulations.
- Explanation of the control measures required for the use of hazardous substances.
